A la sombra de la libertad fingida
A month across the United States with a van, a group of friends, and a mobile phone. After losing one camera, breaking another, and carrying a camera body with no lenses left to use, I gave up on the equipment I had planned to rely on and documented the journey entirely with an iPhone.
The decision became a liberation rather than a limitation. Freed from technical concerns, I photographed instinctively, responding to the absurdity, humour, and contradictions of a country that often feels both familiar and surreal. Influenced by photographers who have embraced the everyday as subject matter, this work is less about the device used to make the images than about the act of looking itself.
The result is a visual diary of chance encounters, roadside landscapes, fleeting moments, and the peculiar atmosphere of contemporary North America—an attempt to capture not its landmarks, but its temperament.
